Western-Themed Team Building: Welcome to Dusty Creek!

When Mélodie contacted us, she had a very specific goal: to offer her 100 employees a team-building event that was original, immersive, and unifying—far removed from standard corporate activities.

To meet her request, we devised a genuine adventure set in the world of the Wild West. Our aim wasn't merely to offer a few team-building exercises, but to immerse participants in a story where everyone had a role to play.

That is how "The Gold Rush" was born—a bespoke Western-themed team-building event held at the Ferme du Moulinat in Loubens.

From the moment they arrive, the participants are transported to another era.

For the occasion, I take on the persona of Calamity Jane, the Chief Sheriff of Dusty Creek, accompanied by my four deputies. Facing us are 100 employees who quickly transform into the residents of this small Wild West town.

I devised four major challenges to bring this adventure to life for the participants:

    The Sharpshooters’ Duel: precision, focus, and nerves of steel to hit the mark.
    The Cowboy Relay: speed, coordination, and teamwork to cross the Great Plains.
    The Ranch Lasso: skill and a bit of technique to rope cattle like a real cowboy.
    The Infernal Rodeo: the ultimate challenge—trying to tame the beast and hold on for as long as possible.

But for this corporate team-building event, I wanted the situation to be able to shift at any moment.

Surprise cards spice up the game: they might let you win extra nuggets, land you in jail, require you to carry an injured person on a stretcher, or even allow you to steal nuggets from other clans...

Strategies emerge, alliances form, cheers ring out... and the competition quickly comes alive.

Right down to the very last gold nugget...

After the four challenges, I call the clans up one by one to the scales for the grand weigh-in.

Each team deposits its haul. Pockets are emptied. Glances are exchanged.

But at Dusty Creek, nothing is ever a sure thing.

The top three clans secure a spot in a surprise grand finale—the ultimate chance to turn the leaderboard upside down.

And that is precisely what Mélodie and I wanted to create: a team-building experience that tells a story.

For a few hours, the employees are no longer just colleagues. They become cowboys, gold prospectors, and members of the same clan, united by a shared mission.
