Discover the mountains from a different perspective

Looking to get away from the ski slopes and discover another side of Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise? Put on your snowshoes and set off to explore the snowy landscapes of the valley, accompanied by a professional mountain guide.

From larch and spruce forests to high-altitude hamlets and panoramic views over the peaks of the Haute-Tarentaise, snowshoeing is a gentle and immersive way to experience the mountains in winter.

At Sainte-Foy, you can choose from several options depending on what you are looking for:

A full-day group outing to Le Monal, available each week, to discover this iconic Sainte-Foy site in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
A private half-day outing, ideal for a first introduction to snowshoeing or for enjoying a hike adapted to your group's pace.
A private full-day outing, for venturing further into the mountains, taking your time to explore and enjoying a route tailored to your wishes.

Your mountain guide adapts the itinerary to the snow conditions, the group's experience and your expectations. Along the way, discover the mountain landscapes, look out for animal tracks and learn more about the natural environment and heritage of Sainte-Foy.

Whether you are with family, friends or a small group, snowshoeing is a wonderful way to experience the mountains at a slower pace, away from the hustle and bustle of the ski area.

A must-do outing: Le Monal

Set off on a snowshoe adventure to discover Le Monal, one of Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise's iconic mountain hamlets. Depending on your preferences and experience, two different routes allow you to reach this exceptional site and enjoy the valley's snowy landscapes.

Off-piste Monal – Sainte-Foy | 11 km | -1,200 m:

From Sainte-Foy, take the chairlift before heading off-piste down to the hamlet of Le Monal. A more challenging outing, ideal for those looking for adventure and a more immersive experience in snowy terrain.

Safety equipment (DVA, shovel and probe) is provided.

Ski lift pass not included.

Monal through the forest – Sainte-Foy | 11 km | ±700 m:

From Sainte-Foy, enjoy a gradual climb through the forest towards the famous hamlet of Le Monal. An immersive winter hike, allowing you to take your time, appreciate the mountain scenery and discover the area's heritage.

What to bring:

Equipment: Please arrange to hire snowshoes.
Clothing: Wear warm, comfortable clothing suitable for winter hiking: waterproof footwear, warm layers, gloves or mittens, a hat and a neck warmer.
Sun protection: Sunglasses and sunscreen are essential in the mountains, even on cloudy days.
Water and snacks: Remember to bring a water bottle and some snacks for the hike.
Full-day hike: Please bring a packed lunch.
Level: The itineraries are selected and adapted by your mountain guide according to the snow conditions and the group's experience.

Do I need to have snowshoed before?

You don't need to be an experienced snowshoer! Snowshoeing is an accessible activity that is easy to get the hang of. It makes walking through snowy terrain easier, and your mountain guide will give you all the advice you need to get comfortable with the equipment at the beginning of the outing.

Is equipment included in the outing?

Snowshoes are not included in the price. You can bring your own equipment or hire a pair of snowshoes.

What private snowshoeing options are available?

Evolution 2 offers private snowshoe hikes for a half-day or full day. These outings are suitable for families, groups of friends and small groups, with the itinerary adapted to your preferences, experience and the conditions on the day.

What happens if the weather conditions are unfavourable?

Mountain conditions can change quickly. Your guide may therefore adapt the route, programme or itinerary depending on the weather and snow conditions. The aim is to provide an enjoyable experience while ensuring the safety of the group.

Is snowshoeing suitable for children?

Yes, some outings are suitable for families. However, this depends on the route, its duration and the level of endurance required. If you're unsure which outing would be most suitable for your children, feel free to contact us before booking.
