Technique
- Adjusting your position when climbing and descending
- Navigating steep sections
- Advanced concepts of grip and efficiency
- Moving and lightening your wheels when crossing obstacles
- Navigating modules and small steps
- Balance on slow courses using ‘pedal-braking’
Mechanics
- Adjusting your mountain bike, particularly the handlebars, using specific tools
- Saddle position according to the terrain
- Starting to equip your bag and tool kit
Safety/Orientation
- Checking your mountain bike and the wear and tear of its parts
🔵 Group lesson Pilote 2 | MTB downhill - Improvement level
Technique
- Mastering the basic position with balanced stopping
- Separating front and rear braking
- Discovering lateral movement on two wheels
- More technical crossings at different speeds
- Flat turning technique and controlled skidding
- First jumps landing on two wheels
- Visual anticipation and banked turns
Mechanics
- Daily bike maintenance, washing, lubrication
- Knowing how to repair a puncture
- Replacing a broken chain
Safety/Orientation
- Awareness of the natural environment for multiple activities. Respect and behaviour
- Tools and first aid kit
- Locating on a 1:25,000 map and knowledge of trail markings
🔴 Group lesson Pilote 3 | MTB downhill - Advanced level
Technique
- Course covering various riding techniques and balance control: Bunny hops / Wheeling over several metres / Navigating narrow and uneven obstacles / Grip and positioning on steep ascents and descents
- Jumping over small tables
- Series of banked turns
- Dissociation between rider and mountain bike and body positioning in turns
- Managing effort (long rides)
Mechanics
- Mechanical autonomy (preparation, repair and maintenance)
Safety / Orientation
- Vigilance in more hostile terrain
- First aid and alerting others
- Impact of the activity on the environment
- Orienteering course.
🟡 Check-up technic (group session) - 2h
Not sure if you have the minimum requirements for the beginners' course or if you like the activity? Then our Check-up Technic course is for you!
This 2-hour course is designed for occasional cyclists who want a gentle introduction to downhill biking. You stay at the bottom of the slopes!
The aim is to build your confidence and teach you the basic techniques of mountain biking (full suspension bike): basic position, braking, balance, etc.
This course prepares you to ride on the slopes, and you can then join the DH beginners' course if you want to continue learning!
