From Chamonix, the famous cog railway takes you up to the Montenvers site, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.

🏔️ Is it possible to walk on the Mer de Glace glacier?
To walk on the Mer de Glace glacier, you need to be equipped with crampons and specialist gear; we won’t be able to do this during the tour. We can offer you an introductory glacier walking session with a mountain guide. More information on this page.
👟 Do I need to be in good physical condition to take this tour?
You don't need to be athletic, but you should be able to walk.
📸 Can we take photos during the tour?
Of course – in fact, do make the most of capturing the moment! Don’t forget to charge your camera or phone.
👨👩👧👦 Is the activity suitable for children?
Yes, children aged 8 and over can take part provided they are comfortable in the mountains and under adult supervision.
🍽️Can we stay on site after the tour and enjoy a meal there?
Yes, there are three different places to eat on site: bars and restaurants. If you’d like to eat at one of the restaurants, we recommend booking directly with them.
