Rafting is becoming increasingly popular among adventurers each summer in the mountains. Accessible, fun, and friendly, this activity allows you to descend a river as a team with a guide. What exactly is rafting?

Rafting is a water activity that involves navigating a river in an inflatable boat, called a raft, as a team with a guide. Suitable for both beginners and thrill-seekers, it offers a unique way to experience nature, with calm stretches and more challenging rapids, but above all, it’s a fun and active way to share a memorable moment. Swimming skills are mandatory to participate in a rafting trip, as you need to feel comfortable in the water since the activity takes place close to the rapids.

Who can go rafting ?

The good news is that rafting is a very accessible activity. Most descents are open to families with children (at Evolution 2, for example, from age 6 with the baby raft), but there are also more technical routes for those seeking greater thrills. The choice of river and difficulty level is always made with a professional to ensure safety!

What equipment should you bring ?

Don’t worry—you don’t need to invest in expensive equipment!

  • Equipment provided on site: raft, paddle, helmet, life jacket, and wetsuit. A briefing before the activity will teach you how to use everything!
  • What to bring yourself: swimsuit, towel, and a change of clothes.

If you wear glasses, no problem: they are allowed as long as they are securely fastened with a strap. Contact lenses are generally not recommended, as they may come out or become uncomfortable if you get submerged.

Where and when to go rafting in France?

The Alps and the Pyrenees are among the most popular destinations, but other rivers in Ardèche, Corsica, or the Massif Central can also offer an equally thrilling adventure! If we’re being honest, we especially recommend the Alps: the scenery is always spectacular, and the adventure is unforgettable, with plenty of destinations to choose from!
