Have you been browsing the web to find out how to become a ski instructor? Probably because this job makes you dream, right? You’re not wrong, there are worse jobs! You probably don’t fully understand how the diploma works yet, but reading between the lines, you’ve figured out that first, you have to pass a test before you can lead kids in snowplow turns while shouting “Come on, follow me!”
The Ski Test Technique: the first step to becoming a ski instructor
So far, nothing too complicated. On paper, it seems quick. You get an entry test, a bit like the exam to enter high school. This key step is the Test Technique, which allows you to access the first stage of the State Ski Instructor diploma. Passing this test gives you access to the prestigious ENSA (École Nationale de Ski et d’Alpinisme) in Chamonix, where you’ll complete the first training unit (UF1). It’s 15 days of training, after which you can teach beginner skiers for pay at any ski school in France. Pretty cool, right. But (yes, there’s always a “but”), I said earlier that “on paper, it seems quick.” Why the little hint?
