3. Under the ice of the lake (literally)

If you've never tried Ice Diving, it's the most zen and scary experience at the same time. You break the ice, immerse yourself in 2°C water, and there, the silence is total. The play of light between the air bubbles and the layer of ice is just unreal.

  • Pro tip: Try it at the end of the day when the light is fading and the atmosphere becomes electric.

2. Driving on ice at Les Brévières

Forget everything you know about driving. On the Brévières Ice Circuit, traction is close to zero, and that's where it gets interesting. Whether you're behind the wheel of a buggy or a quad bike, the goal isn't pure speed, but mastering the slide.

  • On the agenda: learning how to initiate and counter-initiate, controlling acceleration to maintain drift, and aiming for the apex without ever touching the brakes (or almost).
  • A mixture of frustration at first, when the vehicle doesn't do what you want it to, and pure adrenaline when you manage to string together two turns in perfect drift.

If you really want to understand the immensity of the area, you have to take off from the peaks. Put on your skis, get a little momentum, and fly over the resort. No vertigo, just an ultra-smooth glide through the air with a breathtaking view of the Grande Motte and the frozen lake.

  • For a little thrill: ask the pilot for a few sharp turns at the end—it's better than coffee for waking you up.
