The performances of Quentin Fillon Maillet and Julia Simon in biathlon, as well as the French achievements in ski mountaineering, figure skating, and snowboarding, have sparked tremendous enthusiasm. But one question often remains at the end of the Games: how do you move from watching the excitement on TV to experiencing a real sporting adventure yourself?

The good news is that you don’t have to become an Olympic athlete to enjoy the thrills of winter sports.
Your goal can be much simpler: discover, learn, and then gradually improve.

That’s exactly what Evolution 2, a network of ski schools and outdoor activity providers, offers you.

Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing Introduction with Evolution 2 in Chamonix

Biathlon: focus and control

Biathlon, the flagship discipline of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games for France, delivered some of the greatest successes for our national team! Our athletes dominated the podiums, thanks in particular to the outstanding performances of Julia Simon, Océane Michelon, Lou Jeanmonnot and Camille Bened in the women’s events, as well as the team victories led by Quentin Fillon-Maillet and Éric Perrot in the mixed and men’s relays.

This discipline, which combines cross-country skiing effort with precision shooting, fascinates both seasoned fans and those who have never tried it before. Today, it’s possible to discover biathlon through adapted formats—laser shooting, introductory sessions, and family or children-friendly options, allowing you to experience the tension and focus of landing your very first shot under pressure.

Try snowboarding

Snowboarding became extremely popular in the 1990s, even if it hasn’t quite overtaken skiing! The sensations are completely different, and this sport appeals to many thanks to its style and sense of freedom.

There is real technique to learn, which you can discover with an instructor: getting comfortable on the board, learning your first turns and linked curves, and managing your speed safely. If you already know how to ski, it’s the perfect opportunity to discover this Olympic sport and experience a new way of riding the slopes!

Freestyle

If you’re already fairly confident on skis or a snowboard, you can try freestyle! To get started, you can join dedicated lessons or training camps to build strong foundations with proper supervision… and finally understand all the vocabulary and judging criteria used in Olympic competitions.

At first, you’ll mainly focus on mastering basic jumps and solid take-offs. Then, step by step, you can move on to the tricks that inspire you: ollies, switch 180s, 360s… before long, nothing will hold any secrets for you.

Ski mountaineering (Ski Touring)

Another fantastic discipline in which France shone, especially in the mixed duo event! Emily Harrop claimed silver, Thibault Anselmet took bronze, and together they secured gold in the relay.

Here, there are no ski lifts, discover one of the major new additions of the 2026 Winter Games, now available in many Evolution 2 schools. Ski mountaineering has grown significantly in popularity in recent years, particularly during the Covid period, as more people sought adventure away from crowded resorts. However, getting started requires proper guidance. You’ll need to learn how to use specific equipment, understand how to read the terrain, and develop awareness of snow conditions and avalanche risks. Begin with an introductory session before truly heading off the beaten track!
