via ferrata mountain summer activity

What is via ferrata ?

Via ferrata is a mountain activity that combines hiking and climbing. It involves following a secured route equipped with cables, ladders, and bridges fixed to rock faces. This practice allows you to progress safely while offering spectacular views and a physical challenge suitable for various experience levels. With a harness and lanyards to stay attached to the cables, you will navigate the rock faces. The routes vary in difficulty, providing options for different skill levels and allowing you to enjoy breathtaking mountain vistas.

Do you need a guide for via ferrata?

Although via ferrata is designed to be accessible to a wide audience, it is recommended to use a professional guide, especially if you are a beginner or unfamiliar with the route. Evolution 2's guides are mountain professionals who will provide not only the necessary equipment but also essential safety advice to ensure you enjoy the experience with peace of mind. A guide can also enhance your adventure by sharing information about the region and ensuring that you progress safely, even on the most challenging routes.

What age and skill level are required for via ferrata ?

Via ferrata routes vary in difficulty to accommodate different skill levels. Generally, the levels are classified as follows:

  • Easy: These routes are suitable for beginners or those looking for a more relaxed experience. They feature well-secured and less technical sections.
  • Intermediate: These routes are slightly more demanding, with more exposed sections and some technical challenges.
  • Difficult: Reserved for experienced climbers, these routes present more significant challenges, including steeper sections and complex technical elements.

Before choosing a route, assess your physical condition and climbing skills to select a path that matches your level.

Most via ferrata routes are accessible from around 10-12 years old, but age requirements may vary depending on the route’s difficulty and specific recommendations.

Excellent outing with Evolution 2 Chamonix on the Via Ferrata. Magnificent scenery and a super-friendly group. The guide was top-notch, vigilant, serious and considerate! If you like adrenalin, beautiful scenery, fun and aren't afraid of heights, this is the activity for you.

A via ferrata with Michel just incredible, he knew how to adapt to our "low" level and was limitless in his patience. It was a pure happiness to discuss with him and his experiences. A good team, nice and efficient, and a very nice instructor. I recommend everyone to try this unique experience.

I have just done the Plattes de la Daille via ferrata in Val d'Isère with evolution 2. Our guide Hervé is top notch, friendly, motivating, a crazy guy! Extraordinary course but still with some difficult passages, because they are very steep. Via ferrata for people without vertigo, who are still in good physical condition or who want to go beyond their limits and have a great experience. In any case, I recommend Evolution 2 without hesitation! Serious and friendly company! Thank you for this moment. Emilie

We've booked the Evettes via ferrata. Facing Mont Blanc, departure 9am at the foot of the cable car. The atmosphere is cool, with no pressure or pretension. The guide explains the day's work with a touch of humor, and the group becomes a cohesive unit as soon as we reach the gondola.
I was a little apprehensive for my first time, but everything is done to make you feel at ease, and safety is a priority. We go at our own pace, with different sections, photo breaks, and finish with a Himalayan footbridge. And this splendid view of Mont Blanc and the valley: breathtaking. Everything was perfect, I've discovered my passion. Thank you to the evolution 2 team!
