Learn Mountain Biking Differently During Your Summer Holidays

What if your next summer holiday became a real two-wheel adventure? Today, mountain biking is far more than just a ride through the forest — it’s a sport in its own right. But one question often comes up for families and riders alike: how can you improve effectively, stay motivated, and ride safely?

That’s exactly why Evolution 2 schools have structured their MTB camps around clear, progressive levels accessible to everyone. Much like skiing, each stage validates new skills while encouraging riders to keep progressing further.

Structured progression

At Evolution 2, mountain biking is discovered and learned without pressure, thanks to a teaching approach based on natural progression.

It all starts with the Mini Riders, usually the youngest participants. At this stage, it’s not about performance yet, but about discovery. Children learn how to balance, move forward, brake, and steer their bike. As they grow, they become Junior Riders. The terrain becomes slightly more challenging, and so do the exercises. Young riders begin to control their speed, understand riding lines, and tackle their first obstacles. It is often at this stage that a true passion for mountain biking begins.

From fun to technique

Once the basics are mastered, it’s time for real riding sensations. The Rider 1 and Rider 2 levels mark a true technical progression. In Rider 1, riders discover the terrain: rolling trails, small descents, and simple features. They learn how to adapt their position, anticipate the trail ahead, and understand bike traction. Then comes Rider 2. This is where real control begins. Riders progress on varied terrain, learn effective braking techniques, manage their lines, and gain greater independence. It is often the turning point for teenagers and adults who want to become more involved in mountain biking.

The joy of pushing yourself beyond your limits

For the most passionate riders, the Rider 3 level opens the door to advanced mountain biking techniques. In the mountains or in bike parks, participants work on advanced skills such as bunny hops and handling technical obstacles. The goal is no longer just to ride, but to master the bike in all conditions, anticipate the terrain, and improve fluidity. It is both a physical and mental experience, where every descent becomes a form of self-expression.

How to choose the right level?

Choosing your mountain biking level can seem intimidating, but it’s simply a matter of asking yourself the right questions. Have you already practised regularly? Are you comfortable on descents? Do you know how to control your braking and your lines? In any case, Evolution 2 instructors support every participant from day one. An assessment helps place each rider in a suitable group, ensuring both safety and progression.

The most important thing is simple: enjoying yourself while improving.

So this summer, why not swap the beach for the trails, roads for bike tracks, and discover the joy of mountain biking with Evolution 2? If you would like to learn more about our levels, lessons, or mountain bike courses, get in touch with us today!
