Why off-piste skiing is riskier than on-piste skiing ?
Off-piste:
- the terrain is not secure
- the snow may be unstable
- conditions can change quickly
- rescue services may take longer to respond
The main risk is not the technique, but a lack of knowledge and appropriate behaviour.
