What's ski touring ?

Ski touring is an activity that combines the thrill of skiing with the exploration of mountains far from marked trails. Unlike alpine skiing, ski touring allows skiers to ascend mountains using special bindings and climbing skins, before enjoying a descent on untouched terrain. It's a discipline that offers an immersive experience in nature, perfect for adventure and freedom enthusiasts.

How to start is ski touring ?

Starting out in ski touring is accessible to anyone with a good command of alpine skiing and a decent level of fitness. To begin, it’s recommended to take a ski touring course with Evolution 2, where our certified instructors will teach you the basics, including how to use climbing skins, ascent techniques, and how to manage your energy on varied terrain.

What equipment do you need for ski touring ?

To safely practice ski touring, it's essential to have the right equipment. At Evolution 2, we provide you with safety gear, including an avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe. You’ll also need:

Ski touring skis: Equipped with specific bindings that allow the heel to be released during ascents.
Climbing skins: Essential for grip during climbs, they attach under the skis to prevent slipping backward.
Ski touring boots: Lighter and more flexible than alpine ski boots.
Telescopic poles: Adjustable in length, they are useful for both ascents and descents, providing good support.
Backpack: Choose a lightweight pack with straps to attach your skis and enough space to carry water, extra clothing, and safety equipment.

Friendly and professional welcome, adorable teacher and educator (Antoine, if you can hear me 😂) we loved learning hiking skiing and conversions! At the top also the walks off the Batrus trails in snowshoes. This allowed us to see this station which we know well in another light (with my 2 children of 10 and 13 years and my husband).
