What exactly is canyoning ?

Discover canyoning: an exhilarating aquatic adventure ! Canyoning combines hiking, swimming, jumps, rappelling, and natural slides to explore canyons and gorges. It's the most thrilling white-water activity for nature and adrenaline enthusiasts. Perfect for groups with experienced guides, it’s a great activity to share with friends or family. Canyoning is a varied sport that involves moving through a watercourse by navigating through narrow gorges or ravines, either swimming or walking. The water is often very cold, making the activity incredibly refreshing in summer!

How practise canyoning?

Canyoning is a mix of hiking and climbing in aquatic environments. Therefore, it's essential to be well-equipped and properly guided ! Our experienced and passionate guides will lead you with pedagogy, enthusiasm, and safety.

Regarding what to bring, you should pack:

A swimsuit to wear under the wetsuit
A bath towel
A change of clothes
An old pair of sneakers

As for the equipment, Evolution 2 takes care of everything! You will be provided with:

A neoprene wetsuit to keep you warm
A helmet
A harness for rappelling

Depending on the difficulty of the terrain, canyoning can be more or less strenuous and more or less aerial. Some canyons are accessible to children, and our Evolution 2 schools will help you choose the right one!

Where practise canyoning?

With Evolution 2, you can practice canyoning in some of the most beautiful natural settings in the French Alps. Here are a few of the main locations where you can do it:

In Haute-Savoie: Annecy (Montmin and Angon), Megève (La Belle au Bois), Chamonix (La Barberine), Magland (near Flaine, Carroz d'Arrache, Samoens, Morillon: Canyon de la Balme), Morzine (Canyon de Nyon)
In Savoie: Tarentaise (near resorts: Tignes, Val d'Isère, Les Arcs, Méribel, La Plagne, La Rosière, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Courchevel): Les Eaux Rousses and Bonneval sur Arc (Canyon de l'Ecot)

Who can go canyoning ?

Canyoning is an activity accessible to everyone, provided you have good physical condition and a strong sense of adventure. At Evolution 2, the routes are designed for various levels, from beginners to the more experienced. The activity is supervised by professional guides, ensuring optimal safety for each participant. Difficulty levels range from easy to challenging, allowing everyone to choose an experience that matches their skills and expectations. There are routes suitable for families, starting from the age of 10.

Depending on the difficulty of the terrain, canyoning can be more or less sporty and more or less aerial. It's up to you to choose the experience you are looking for and the professionals of Evolution 2 will accompany you so that you can evolve in complete safety and thus take maximum pleasure.
